It seems you're confused about what the base of a party is. Because the base of the party is the ones driving the movement you think is fringe.

A party of the middle would be made up of republicans that feel bad being called names. Never for a minute assume that any liberal would join. The makeup of DC would become 50/25/25 and tyranny would be the norm.

Democrats, if anything, are unapologetically left, run left, lean left, are leaning further left and want everything going that way. Republicans capitulate, make concessions, try to be bi-partisan, work across the aisle and are getting their balls fed to them, like has happened for over half of a century. Stand on principle, be willing to die for principle and run elections on principle and you will win and alter the culture in a manner closer to what the founders had intended.

I'm not naive enough to believe this will happen, until it's "too late" and then it will be too late.

And this is why I said the party is going to die off. You guys got your butts kicked in November and unless there is some fundamental change you will again in 2 more years. If this continues there will be another party that is more central ideologically come into power and that will suck off the people that are like me in your party. I don't like the Dems but I hate the repubs. Give me something in the middle that stands a chance and I will get out and PUSH.

I lean more right than I do left, but both sides have some really horrible ideas about a great many things.

                      Libertarians FTW!

Unfortunately, the general population are so conditioned to not take any responsibility for themselves & their actions this will never be a viable power party because personal responsibility and accepting the consequences for your decisions are part of the main tenants of the party belief system.

simple answer to all of our problems....parenting.

We as a country have hand fed our people for so long that they no longer know how to act without supervision. Our government is stepping in where parents used to.

If parents took more responsibility...well that’s it, take more responsibility. Teach your children so the government doesn’t have too. Things like this would be a great start but there is one problem, the government (in its current form) wants to be big brother. They are willing to provide these handouts with a quickness as it empowers them; I could go for days...

51% is not a butt kicking however, the GOP will never win as long as the commies are buying votes with entitlements. "Vote for me and get a check for food, rent, phone, internet, each baby you crank out, etc, etc, etc." People should be ashamed to take handouts. Instead, they view it as a way of life.

People think I'm crazy when I espouse libertarian leaning beliefs and talk of the amount of responsibility and sacrifices necessary to be completely free. Sadly there will never be a libertarian leaning group of any largess, if any of the responses I get are any percentage of the majority. The difficult part about voting is that I have to vote Republican to effect any change in the right direction fiscally and in other basic areas. Meanwhile the religious right push their beliefs into law just as the left do.

300+ to 200 is tho. Do you really think most of the dem voters are on welfare? If so your part of the Republican problem. Most people that are handout mentality people don't get off their ass and go vote no matter what rush tells you.

There are people just like me in the republican party. People that don't like what the party stands for but they can't stand the Dem party so they vote Repub by default. I'm that way with the dem party. Give us a viable party that is centrist and we would be there.
