I got a light version I think. I've had it for a week and a half now. Started as a sore throat and went up to my nasal/head area. Been hacking up green shit every morning. Taking Mucinex 12 hour during the day, drinking lots of water, and at night take NyQuil. Nasty shit just wont go away.

Definitely sucked ass.

Its 25/30 bucks for the shot, or a week or two out of work feeling miserable. Simple choice really...
I quit getting the shot after the 3rd year in a row that I got the flu after getting the shot, and this year is the first time Ive gotten it since. That is over 20 years of no flu/ no shots, 3 in a row of shot+flu.

This is the first year I have got the flu (and I'm not so sure this was the flu since it wasn't bad and fever never got above 99.5*) since 1996, that year I got a flu shot since I had no other vehicle other than a Honda CB750 to drive through winter. I haven't had a flu shot since. It isn't scientific evidence, but good enough for me to not get another flu shot.

That's not what our docs have said. My daughter was at Cooks 2 times and her regular doc 2x and they all said that the flu shot was for type 'A', but everyone was coming in with type 'B'. My daughter had 'B'.

our boy had the shot and still contracted type a. he had the shot in october and got type a the week before christmas break. Shoot it was the first time ever that they actually swabbed him and did the culture. baby and boy on tamilfu because they were afraid the little one would get it too. so tamiflu for 2 weeks for her and 5 days for the boy. ass long as yoyou get in within 48 hours tamiflu is the best

I've been sick since last Saturday, and too damn busy to miss any work. I can't wait for this weekend, doubt I'll get out of bed much.

The only downside, albeit a significant one, to getting a flu shot for me is the ever-so-slight potential for contracting Guillain-Barre syndrome.

There is no treatment for influenza once you have symptoms for more than 48hrs. What you do have to worry about is getting a secondary pneumonia and sepsis since influenza knocks your immune system down.

so can you tell me because i never had a good explanation...but why did they put the baby (5 months old) on tamiflu?? I knew they would put the kid on it since she was in the house.

I didn't think it was a preventative.....that would be what the vaccine is for (if it was that specific type, correct?) So what is the purpose of tamiflu in infants (our family dr called a collegue to get a better understanding of dosing someone so young).

I'm pretty sure I've got this crap that's going around too. My assistant started feeling bad last Tues, and despite me telling her she could go home on Wed & Thurs, she only took Fri off because she couldn't get out of bed. I started feeling crappy 2 days ago, but have been able to work until now. I think I'm going to go home and take it easy and hope & pray it doesn't get worse. I have a trial/hearing tomorrow afternoon that I can't miss.

Davbrucas - my wife seems to think that taking a bunch of vitamin C right now will help me feel better, but it sounds like BS to me since I'm already coming down with it. Is the vitamin C thing just a wives tale?
