Does anyone remember the website where you can list a phone number and moving companies will call that number (continuously) to offer bids? It was posted here before but I cannot remember the thread or the name of the website. Maybe a website to sign someone's home address up for gay porn brochures? Maybe something in a craigslist homo ad?

Short story, drove 80 miles to buy a set of heads, guys said they were pull-offs from a wrecked truck and guaranteed they were fine, I specifically asked about cracks and their history, got them home, cleaned them up and was putting new valve stem seals in and each one was cracked to hell, and now said guy will not return calls.

Just curious, but why didn't you have him clean them up and pull them apart before buying them? Seems like the best thing to do, especially if you can't accurately determine their condition in the state they were given to you.

I couldn't see the cracks since the heads still had the gasket material on them. They were Chevy L31 Vortec heads, and like a DUMBASS I assumed he was being honest, looking me in the eye and saying he pulled them from a running truck that had been wrecked, guaranteeing them to not be cracked. Machine shop says it a near certainty that the intake manifold gasket failed, the coolant dumped into the oil pan and it overheated since it happens to many of them around 80,000 miles. The crack runs from the center coolant hole through the center bolt hole towards the center between the two center cylinders. The heads had been sprayed down but the gasket material still on them. It was impossible to see until I soaked them to get them spotless for a shim-type head gasket. One is cracked far worse than the other.

Yes, my fault for not being able to check them out on the spot at his house, but still the guy lied and purposely sold a set of bad heads and now will not return calls. I have his name, address and phone number. He posts stuff in the Dallas craigslist but uses parts of his phone number spelled out, so searching for the number is useless.

That sucks man, hope you can find him and work it out. Anytime I buy/sell something on CL, I purposely avoid the numbers that are spelled out for that very reason.

That's why I've always used spelling for the first and last digit of my number.

Yeah, more as a joke to a buddy. I have a friend that still makes the trip, I told him I wanted to enter a postal Jeep. I bought another postal Jeep, picked up a Chevy 400 sbc and was going to run Vortec heads on it. Buying a set of Vortec heads new (around $650) would put me over the top of the build after buying a Vortec intake and gaskets, freshening up the 400 and the rest of the little shit on the Jeep.
