  • Effing thieves....

broke into our house sunday afternoon while i was on shift and my wife was off doing stuff with the baby. They threw a brick through the patio door/glass and went crazy stealing shit. They took PS3, buncha games, psp, laptop, one of my pistols, the baby monitor and....wait for it....my wife's breast pump...

Now dealing with the insurance. This is a gonna cost me a shit ton of money...

Depending on your deductible, it may not be too fun. Sorry to hear it. Where do you "stay"?

      Bastards.

Got burglarized 2x when I lived in E Fort Worth. Its a real bad feeling to come home at night and find the lights on/doors open.

It took me a while to admit it, but security system and good CCTV setup is the same price as a deductible for stolen goods.

A lot of insurance companies wave the deductible if anything is stolen from the house with an alarm system.

We live in far north Lake Highlands. The security system is being installed next week and my dad is working on the camera system for us. When we were cleaning up the glass and putting plywood on the door, he looked into the back yard and said "too bad you didn't have some claymores out here". I couldn't have agreed more.

Oh crap...I live in Lake Highlands too. I'm near Audelia and Walnut Hill and there's a couple of other DFWM members here that live around that area. Sorry to hear that, but that crap has been happening more and more over the last 12-18 months. I have an alarm on my house and security cameras and they only that's been stolen was 1 of my kids bikes.

yeah we live at forest and greenville. DPD dude that took our report said that it was probably juveniles because of the things they took. but also there has been an increase of gang activity starting at LH junior high so these kids were probably doing stuff to get in gangs

This is usually the case, but about 2-3 weeks before Christmas I took a burglary report in which I was able to lift several prints off the entry window. I told the home owner, I was able to get good prints but likely was juveniles so we would not get a return. Well one week later the prints comeback confirmed on a 25 you guy I had arrested 4 weeks earlier on a trespass charge. We were able to locate the items stolen at a near by pawn shop. So in the end the owner got her children's items back and the guy was charged with burglary of a habitation. Felt really good getting those kid's PS3 and television back before xmas.

Kinda funny how that works... trespassing charge and then a burglary charge. People wonder why trespassing is "such a crime"... I say it's because if you get convicted of trespassing there stands to be a great chance that you have no business being there: in order to burglarize, you must first trespass.

Kudos on the actual police work for a change. (Not you specifically, just in general). I bet days like that make it almost worthwhile, even though they are few and far between.
