Where to rent a 4X4 large SUV?

Taking the family to Colorado and want to rent a Large four wheel drive SUV. Anybody rented one from around here before? Im having trouble finding one that will reserve one for me. They say they cant guarantee it'll be 4X4. Thanks.

Even if they won't guarantee a 4x4, rent from a larger airport location and when you get there, get them to swap you out for a 4x4. I do know that Denver International only carries 4x4 SUVs at Hertz FYI.

I checked with a couple and they require that you have a return airline ticket to rent Premium SUVs. Makes no sense to me. I even tried a DFW airport car rental and they wouldnt rent it to me without a return airline ticket. WTF does that matter?

I don't, everyone i know has 4X4 trucks, or 2WD SUVs. I didnt know they were this rare in our area.

They just say that. Twice now ive driven there, parked my car, walked over to the rental location at the airport, rented my grand cherokee and headed to higher elevation.
