The dog is a German Shepard that can tell when this vet is having issues and prompt him to take his medication. I don't know all the details but it seemed to be helping this poor fella a lot. Plus he gets one helluva cool dog to walk with him anywhere he goes, even church...

My stepdad is a district commander for the VFW. Those old coots are tough as nails & drink like fish. If I had gone through the shit they had, I would drink more too. My mom says even though they are losing the WWII vets, they still won't talk about their experiences. One old guy who recently passed was at Pearl Harbor, but never spoke of it. He was also a sharp shooter & even had an Olympic medal. He talked about that, but never the shooting for the military. Not even with the other military guys. I just think they were made of tougher fiber. My own daddy never talked about his time in the Korean War. Men were raised differently & there were different expectations for that generation. I wonder how they kept from going crazy without support. Able to compartmentalize is my guess.sigpic
