Considering buying one, just curious for opinions. I have been looking at Preowned and the damn resale on these things is pretty high compared to the CTS-V I was looking at.
My Brother In Law had a 2001 S4. Now, I know that is old, but he owned it through 2010. All I know is he bought it with about 90k on the car, and as soon as that German piece of crap turned 100k, EVERYTHING started to break on it. A/C went out, electronics started shorting out, etc.
To do any type of service on the S4, you have to "assume the service position" which is completely removing the front end of the car.
Granted it was used and he tried his best to maintain it, but either someone really didn't take care of the car before hand, or they are just terrible after 100k.
Audi owners have a saying. "Audi, making ordinary men into Mechanics since 1965"
I don't trust anything European. I had a Contour SVT (Ford Mondeo ST220) and they just don't build them to last beyond 100k. Yet I had a Cavalier with 263,000 miles and now am on a 200SX with 163,000 miles. No issues from either.

You might send John a PM on here. He works at a shop that specializes in VW/Audi if I remember correctly.

A well maintained Audi will last a very long time. A quick "For Sale" search and you will find a TON of 00-02 S4's with over 150,000 miles
OP, I have nothing to add for the 2010+ cars but I know I'd love to have one.
