I, like grove rat, have family I wouldn't piss on. Just because they're family doesn't mean it's carte Blanche to everything I own. See Muffrazr's thread if you don't quite understand. Sometimes life kicks you in the nuts, this happens to be one of those times for his sister. Sometimes for something to grow, you have to kill it. Num sayin'?

Apparently your 'bad' family member isn't as bad as some can be. My uncle by marriage raped his wifes little sister, my youngest aunt, when she was 10. He got out of jail a few years back, then disappeared about two weeks later. No one has heard from his since.

Granted that is WAAAAAAY not the case with said family in this thread. She's irresponsible perhaps, but far from 'bad'.

He stated that he knows she will damage the interior with smoke and possible burns and whatever else, not to mention what she could do to the exterior. He also stated she's not the kind of person that would own up to any possible caused damages and I don't think he should have to knowingly take a financial loss/property damage loss for it.

That sort of family member would of course be an exception.

I read all that, I just don't agree. Life is short and sometimes people you love (or should love) are gone before you get the chance to build/rebuild a good relationship with them. In the grand scheme of things the truck is virtually worthless.

Then she won't be missing anything.

            Except maybe work.

Something to be said for "tough love", too.

I agree with that completely. If she were to die tomorrow, he'd do anything to go back and do something as simple as loan her a truck.

This isn't life or death though. This is about an automobile. An inanimate object that one person stands to lose because of another persons lack of respect/responsibility.

IMHO, Ya can't go around getting stomped on or put back 10 steps because you might have cross words someone that might in turn not get resolved before someone maybe passes away. A TRUE relationship won't get strained over the discussion of transportation.

It takes a hell of a lot more than that to come between siblings... if they were EVER important to one another to begin with. Him giving her a truck just so he doesn't have to see her throw a tantrum isn't helping the situation any either.

It's difficult to NOT care about the things you work hard for in life, especially when you know that someone you love definitely doesn't care about your accomplishments enough so to respect them. In turn, they obviously don't care enough about YOU or your feelings to refrain from being careless.

Not letting her borrow a truck doesn't hurt a relationship... but turning her loose with it to total out could cause serious damage to their relationship. If that thing is too big for her, it's DANGEROUS for her to be in it anyway. She could seriously hurt someone or herself. If anything... if he really cares about her at all, he won't put her behind the wheel of that freakin' monster.

Perhaps by doing this and standing his ground, it points their relationship into a more positive direction and she comes to understand the TRUE meaning of responsibility and respect for other peoples property.

                bah, too much rambling!!

Yea, but one member of the family, Dad, didn't say no he said hell no.

Always listen to Dad. You might not think it at the time but 99.99% of the time pop is right (unless your dad is a derelict.)

                            IBLH!

She has a skater figure, and that's hot, but I've known her too long to look at her that way. I remember when we were too cool for school, and she had some friends over for a sleep over one night. Jeff and I snuck in to her room, stole all their training bras, soaked them in water, and tossed them in the freezer. lulz Man, they were pissed! And I think his mom was pretty pissed, too. Been too long to remember all the details clearly.
