  • Who's done the bonded title thing...

Is it a huge PITA ? looking at a 1955 Model truck, guy has no title. It's not gonna pass an inspection right now...

nah not hard at all, youll need to go to go to the dvm file for a bonded title, then contact almost any insurance company, fax or take them the documents the dvm gave you for the bonded title, then once you get the bond take the bond and the dmvdocuments to your local dvm and youre done.

What he said. "sureity bond" is what you will need from the insurance company.
It was a Pita for me because all the i's weren't dotted etc. Took several trys. The Bond will cost you a certain % of what the car is worth.

About 10%. I have done two. It easy, it just costs a few buck.

Be prepared, it's too old to be in their system so they will determine it's value by what it COULD be worth with another source.

They valued my $1000 67 Cougar at 20K.

Then you just get an appraisal for the "actual" value.

Dealers "can" do it. There is a form from the tax office they have to fill out. The dealers in my area are charging $100-150 for the appraisal. Hopefully you know someone.

Do a title hearing. A little more foot work but it's cheaper.

Is it a 55 Chevy? If so and they take the path they did with my Cougar, they will quote you a value of $43k.

I just used them for a title on a 55 f-100 and it was $250 for everything.
