Just an update Arlington FD starts the hiring process next month and I'm going to try to get on with them, I'm also going to try to get on with Fort Worth FD when they start hiring again.

I'm not old just an FYI...23 almost 24. Random question though; Have you taken your ACLS certification yet? I'm not sure its a req. for you, but just curious how it was if you have.

No I haven't. I'm still just going through emt-b. To get in we had to do the AHA BLS for health care professionals, but that's about it. If I get on with Arlington they will send me to emt-I school then fire school. If Fort Worth then I will just go to fire school. Both depts have the EMS separate from the FD.

Good luck getting onto those depts. You usually have to score damn near perfect on the test to even get noticed because they only take a small % of the 1000 or so that test. In Garland, theres was 900 people that tested and they only took the top 60, the lowest of those scores was like 95. If you really want to get onto a FD, try one that isn't civil service. Those can hire you just because they like you, as long as you pass everything. Just a little advice from a dude with tons of friends beating their head on the wall not being able to get a job.

But do those places have EMS and FD seperate? I don't have my medic so I couldn't get on there.
