Lefty guitar recommendations

There are 2 left-handed Washburn D12S's on Craigslist as we speak. They want $75 each, and it say's "new in the box". That's less than half of what Guitar Center gets. These are "solid-top" guitars, and superb for starters/beginners. Have a nice "set-up" done (so it plays easily) and be done.

That CL ad looks too good to be true. Is there a counterfeit guitar market like fake Gucci purses? I would not know any difference. What would I look for?

Electric is easier to learn on period. Go that route

I want to be able to take it where ever and not have to carry an amp, cord, etc..

Easier said than done I'm sure. No way I could play left handed.

Exactly.

I've helped a few beginners get started and had the best luck with either a Mexican strat or a squire strat. The Mexican strats these days are on par with the USA models. I know tons of guys that like their mexi strats much more than their us ones. And with a good checkover and proper setup the squiers are also nice guitars. Gibson's QC these days is practically nonexistent, their guitars are overpriced as hell.


But no matter what guitar you get, whether its electric or acoustic, get it the once over and have a proper setup done. Don't have it done at a major chain store though. Find a local mom and pop type of shop that has a good rep with local musicians. You'll get a more personal, better quality job 99% of the time.

he is saying buy a electric. You dont have to plug it in to play it.

Mine sounds just fine un plugged. When i want to rock out i turn the amp on and plug it in.

Electrics are really easy to play vs acoustics.

Funny how that works. I write and punch lefty, but play guitar and golf righty. I also throw righty, but switch-hit in high school baseball. No way could I play guitar or golf lefty.

My sister is completely right handed, but shoots left handed. I am right handed, but I can do anything with my left hand. Brush my teeth, write, bowl, play tennis, eat, etc.

I'm left handed, but shoot right handed, bat and play hockey right handed, eat left handed, but use right handed scissors.

WTF?????

My right had is more dexterous than the left, and feels so much at home on the fret. When I try to fret with my left hand, it's like using left handed scissors.
