One of my favorite Judge Judy episodes was a story just like this. She let the dog choose who it wanted, it was cool to see. Dogs rock.

              Finders keepers...

That's fucked up all the way around, one would hope that the family would soon realize that if they're attached after 20 hours, imagine how the true owners feel. Sounds like the animal shelter employee is in the wrong profession.

Where is Mike when you need him? We need to find out who these scum buckets are. I bet with the power of Dfwmustangs those fuckers would give that dog back.

All that aside, was the dog not wearing any tags? Mine's an inside dog, that only gets outside on a leash, but she's always got her collar on, and is chipped.

Their blog said that she was wearing a collar, but her tag had worked itself off. Only our bulldog is chipped, but crap like this has me seriously considering getting the other three chipped. All of our dogs have collars and tags, but they don't wear them at home. We put them on when they're out in public, but take them off in the evening.

I made an appointment to get ours chipped. I had no idea that it was only $35.
