Curious if anyone is still oldschool with a straight razor, I'm sick of buying replacements. I've also considered a safety razor.

I've been shaving with a straight razor for 13yrs now. You get the hang of it rather quickly, a few nicks to the cheek/throat makes sure you do. My old barber got me into it when I lived in DFW and I've never gone back to a regular disposable. It can get pricey REALLY quick if you let it. Some Ivory handled razors, cremes, lathers, holders. I tend to go to The Art of Shaving store here in Atlanta, and have to force myself to walk out empy handed.
Go all in, you don't need a safety razor CJ.

I'd like to. Had a straight razor shave in China on my wedding day, and it was the closest, smoothest shave I've ever had. Didn't have to shave again for a week...
I tell ya, though, there's nothing more nerve-racking than being 11,000 miles away from home with some crazy looking Chinese broad holding a straight razor to your face and not being able to speak a god damned word of the native language to her.Comment

I've been shaving with a straight razor for about a year now and I love it I'll never go back to cartridge razors again. The upfront cost may be a little steep at first but in the long run it'll save you money. If you want to try it out to find out if it's for you, you can buy one of the Barber straight razors from beauty supply stores like Sallys. They use disposable blades you can get the blades and the straight razor holder for around 6-7 bucks. If you do like it invest in a good one with a nice strop and sharpening stone.Comment
