I really don't see how a teacher with a CHL would be much different.
my wife's school has 2 officers. 3500 students, two officers.

Hell, in the four years I was there, I can't recall any incident where any of them unholstered a gun. They just patrolled the campus breaking up fights, having dogs sniff the lockers and vehicles, and flirting with the teenage girls.

When I picked the oldest up yesterday, there were 6 officers chatting in the breezeway.

I guess I'm missing your point. I have no issues with teachers carrying, but I went to a school that employed more officers than some jails.

not all schools are as lucky to have that many officers is the point you are missing.

With all the budget cuts and deficits the schools are facing, they can't afford to hire armed security/police. It makes much more financial sense for the school to pay for training and get some of the staff CHL's and have them carry at all times...
"Laws that forbid the carrying of arms...disarm only those who are neither inclined nor determined to commit crimes...Such laws make things worse for the assaulted and better for the assailants; they serve rather to encourage than to prevent homicides, for an unarmed man may be attacked with greater confidence than an armed man." - Thomas Jefferson, 1776

I guess they're not "lucky" enough to be schools where 4 people were shot back in 1990. Our accumulation of officers isn't a luxury. They feel it's a necessity because two kids thought it would be a good idea to have a gun fight over some chick 22 years ago.

Oh my bad. I think all schools should have more than two people armed. You think because 20 years ago there was a shooting at a school that they should have an acceptable amount of police. Sum it all up?

Your assumption is off base. I've never said that I believed the number of officers was justified. I'm actually of the opinion that it is excessive to have that many officers in a school of 2,000 students. We were there just a couple of years after the shooting, while it was still fresh in everyone's mind. At some point, it just became the status quo.

I honestly don't know what the basis for argument is. You think that your wife's school needs more than two armed personnel on campus, and I'm not disagreeing. I see no issues with teachers carrying if the district can't afford to employ more officers.

Seeming like you were saying that there were enough already.

You completely misread what I was saying. People are in arms at the thought of teachers carrying guns. I'm saying that we had a shit ton of trained officers on campus (having officers on campus isn't unusual and many are calling for it these days) so I don't see the difference between trained officers and trained teachers with guns on campus. I have a hard time understanding why officers are okay, but people freak out at the thought of a teacher with a CHL in a classroom.

I will say that I'm not sure how much good that many officers really did. We literally had a precinct office on campus, but the major altercations weren't occurring where officers were. Most fights were disbanded by teachers with officers making reports and arresting offending parties as needed. We were subject to random searches, wandings, and drug sniffing. I can only remember a few instances where something of significance was found. The only ones that come to mind were a hunting rifle after a weekend at the deer lease and a large knife that had no business being in a kid's car. Given my experience, it seems more useful to give teachers the option of carrying and students not knowing who's carrying.
