Exactly. You may have heard 1 story in 40 years about a someone busting in a police station and shooting people. That is because the POPO be packing heat and will use it.
Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Every nerf gun or loud noise within 5 miles of a school will be called into the cops for the next month. All these over protective parents will be even more paranoid than usual.

I am not "over protective" but if I heard something that sounds like a gun shot, i'm reporting it, especially if it sounds like its at a school

I was in high school when the columbine shooting happened. We had about 3 bomb scares a week for almost a month, and any kid that looked emo or owned a trench coat got hauled in for a talk with the counselor.
I remember the first bomb threat we got they funneled the whole school into the front parking lot. After a few minutes, I said "fuck this", and walked away. One of the teachers stopped me and asked what I thought I was doing, and told me I had to stay put. I told her, "If I where someone who wanted to do as much harm as possible I'd call in a bomb threat, so everyone would go to the parking lot. Then I'd bomb the hell out of the parking lot. Try to keep me in this shooting gallery!" The teacher let me pass, I walked to my truck jumped in and headed to the pool hall. Looking back now I'm surprised I wasn't hauled in because I had thought about how I'd kill people.

You all do realize this kind of shit happens all the time. It's just not reported on because it's not the flavor of the day, unless something happens. When it happens then that is all the news focuses on.

When this debuted I had no idea what it meant, but it stands as a timeless statement on how the media handles themselves during a time like this. It also has one of the finest guitar solos known in the rock world:

The most underhanded part is when they put as the last line "calls to the NRA for comment were not immediately returned" making it sound like the NRA is hiding or scared of comment. You know they just left a voicemail (if that) and then hit "post" on the website.

I was in Junior High when that went down. I remember that some friends and I had just that weekend played in, and took 1st place in a decent sized paintball tournament. Our team name was "Dressed To Kill" and we had shirts made. I, having no idea what had happened, wore the shirt to school the day after the incident. We had a large assembly in the cafeteria, where we were told what had happened and had a big Q & A session with the principal and the chief of police. I knew what was coming.

As everyone was heading back to their classrooms, I got taken aside, due to the shirt. Things got ridiculous pretty quickly. I got suspended for 1 week, which got reversed within 24 hours when a couple teachers and parents went to bat for me on the issue of it really being the team name, and I literally had no idea what had happened until the assembly.

There were two incidents in Arlington today. The one in Birdville was a truck backfiring (as related to me by our PR person that handles the media stuff). Nothing came of any of it-everyone is just hypersensitive right now. I'd rather them take the precautions and it end up not being anything than waiting and seeing what happens.
