Alex, I'm sure you're dead serious about this thread, so I'll try to make it as clear as possible...
You have two types of people in this world. There are good people, who actually do their best to abide by laws and bad people, who might or might not do bad things all the time, but do not look at laws limiting them if they chose to do something they want (either good or bad).
Generally speaking, the number of good people outweight the bad. This is proven by the status of our society. Yes, fucked up things like this happen from time to time (especially in these financially down times), but for the most part, we make it day after day with our families returning home safe.
OK, so now if there are laws enacted to restrict the average person from possessing firearms, the only people turning in firearms will be the good people since abiding by the law is what they do. The only people left with firearms will be people that would rather break the law in order to get their way.
Knowing this on both sides, the bad people will hold a significant advantage to get whatever they want since they are the only ones with firearms. The amount of bad people will far outnumber the amount of designated "legal" firearm holders, like law enforcement. Now if they would go as far to committing crimes before this hypothetical scenario became a reality, what do you think will happen once they hold a greater advantage?
I won't state the obvious. I will just wait to see your reply.
