  • Gas bills

Just got into a house with gas. I have never had gas before so I have a couple questions.

The heater is gas, as well as the water heater, but nothing else in the house is gas. What is a good price I may spend on a month to month basis? I got a bill for the first 7 days and it was about $18 for that time frame. The bill breaks down with this:
    CONSUMP CHRG 0.9 @ 2.51160 $2.26

The rest was taxes and a customer charge.

So if I am thinking right, that is about $10 a month in consumption and the other $16 is just added taxes and charges.

So is $30 about right for one months bill?

edit: I guess the consumption will skyrocket when winter finally hits. I am sure the .9 will jump big time.

Our house is gas heat, fireplace, cooktops, grill and water heater. 3300 sq ft. We always have something going. The summer bills were about 20, and the highest we have seen so far has been 70. I bet our next one will be the highest, but its worth it to me.

We have the same, gas furnace and water heater only. I think we are about 30's summer and mid hundreds winter. But I'm sure Leah will correct me because she pays the gas bill.

Just got my gas bill and it $50 (you've seen my place) for 2400 ft. Gas cooktop, water heaters, and heat. I have a 10-year-old that takes 20 minute showers, too.

My home is only 1,240 sq ft. I have a gas water heater, gas stove, gas fireplace and gas dryer. I usually pay about 30 bucks a month. Highest bill has been $84 .
I'm wanting to build a outdoor kitchen and run the natural gas to that too.

I had to ask the wife.

She said that the winter we had 2 years ago when it was at or around freezing a lot we were running our gas fireplace and our bill was about $250

Just my gas water heater, stove/oven and furnace will be about 30-35 in winter, 10-15 the rest of the year.

The benefit is that my electric bill is rarely above $80/mth. (1500 sqft)

If I use the gas fireplace (fake logs) then I'll prolly go through about $5 a night.

Mine is usually ~$30/mo, last month was $65.

In Denver, during winter months, our gas bill peaked at $75. The insulation differences between TX and CO are pretty insane.

                      I have a 2 story house about 2400 sqft with 2 ac/heat units
Only have gas heat and gas water heater... 3 adults and one 2 y/o daughter

ignore Aug 2011 I had a leak outside of the house on the pipe that runs up out of the ground and into the house (this is somewhat common because water pulls around the pipe... and then the lawn crew wacks the pipe with the weed eater and knocked holes in the already rusted pipe)

and sept 2012 they did an "assumed reading" but they fucked up bad and I got it read in person and ended up being more like 12

See, I would miss the gas heat more...and the bills that come with it.
