All of my bills except my mortgage go on the credit card. When I lived in an apartment I used to put my rent on my credit card but then they started charging a fee that was more than the cash back. Who hates free money other than Dave Ramsey?

I pay everything online with cc.
My wife and I just started doing this. We can't do it with our mortgage but can for everything else. I just need to get setup now to put my car and tuition payments on there.

Should be able to get $25-50 in gift cards each month once those are setup

He earns an ass load of points.. From what he has said it covers nearly all his christmas gifts each year (points can be redeemed for gift cards) and a number of free flights.

Of course he's probably putting $20k a month on it.
^ Thats how we do Christmas, though i am not at 20K/mo...

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

How are you paying bills with this card? I looked and I can only see where you can Bill Pay with a checking/savings account

I can see how on the surface this could be done, and be workable if you never carry a balance over (pay the card in full each cycle" but it adds a layer of failure or potential for a screw up.

Anyone do this? Whats your method to keep things safe/workable? Any pitfalls?
I think it's safer this way as you only have to remember to make one payment each month. Most credit cards allow you to set up reminders if the minimum payment has not been met with 10 days prior to it being due. You can set alerts if a charge over $XX amount is incurred, etc. Some even allow you to set the payment to be made automatically (I just like to review everything before paying it). It offers another layer of protection because it's the bank's money, not yours that is paying the bill (until you pay it at the end of the month). Mine even has an annual fee, and as long as I charge something like $11,333 each year, it negates the annual fee ($85). 2 miles/dollar spent when redeemed for travel, vs. 1.25 miles/dollar spent on the one without the fee.

                          Correct. "Too risky".

We put everything but the mortgage on the c/c. I don't believe Chase will let you pay your mortgage with one. If they did, we would. It's pretty simple. Pay it off each month and done. It actually helps control unnecessary spending if you just keep your credit card(s) on you and don't carry cash or your debit card. Cash is easy to blow and debit card makes it easy to frequent the atm and easy for someone to rfid you. It also reduces transactions to keep up with on your bank account. Cleaner, simpler.

There are several good cards out there right now. We used AA Advantage for years until AA started with all their bankruptcy bullshit. I wanted nothing to do with them so I cancelled my AA cards and went with Chase Sapphire. We've been very happy with them. Double points on dining, single on everything else, but they have some decent cardholder perks. Basically, you can use your points whenever you want for whatever you want, including paying down your balance and they have a their own travel site for members.
