A new graduate MD and psychiatrist was watching a patient standing next to a flower garden at the State Hospital who had a fishing rod and reel and was casting into the garden and reeling in slowly with fixed attention.
After watching the patient cast and reel in from the garden for about 10 or 15 minutes, this new psychiatrist walked over next to the patient and asked him what he was doing.
The patient told the psychiatrist that he was fishing, as he cast the fishing line into the garden again.
After watching the patient cast and reel in from the garden a few more times, the psychiatrist asked the patient how many he had caught.
Without missing the next cast, the patient told this young psychiatrist that he was the third one that he had caught today.Comment
