He has to serve 2 years state jail, then start a 5 year probation sentence. During probation he will be paying restitution to the victims of crimes and whatnot.

If thats right, 2 years isnt a short time! But the probation is what is gonna suck, I would rather do 4 years & have no probation. Either way it just sucks! I honestly dont think he knew the brakes where fucked on that truck & im a biased party here. I dont drive a truck, But my Uncle does & drives different trucks over the road for a company hauling tires & I can remember him calling me broke down on the road cause of something breaking on one of their trucks.

My only question is which I didnt ask my Uncle is would the pedal pressure change if the brakes where fucked & as a seasoned truck driver would you know something wasnt right on the brakes within the first couple miles. I thought they had Air pressure gauges

Oh and County time sucks. What county was this out of? I have a buddy doing 2 years in Dallas County in the kitchen right now as a trustee & he said if you cant make trustee status, It sucks!!!

You would know if you do a pretrip, I walk around and flash a light in and check the brake pads, and release the tractors brakes and tug on the trailer to make sure they hold. air brakes don't have much if any feel to them. If the trailer brakes are not working right he would know when he trys to stop, trust me you know. I had water freeze in the service line as I was going down the road when I came down off the ramp it was at a little incline and I was heavy. Thank god it wasn't busy because it took WAY longer to get it stopped. Under 90% of my stops I never see more than 20 lbs of air pressure. 20 lbs of air would be a hard brake.
He was going to fast and didnt keep enough distance between him and the car in front of him.
Avoid rock haulers, theres a reason you see them on the side of the road getting inspected. DOT knows they run dirty.
