when i heard this story however many years ago, i heard or read as the woman may have done something to cause the collision or result in the truck jack-knifing. i thought that's why nothing happened to albert. i guess not.

This is the story I was told, Said the SUV decided at last min to stop at sonic and the dump truck could not stop that quick. So Albert decided to drive around the SUV so he did not hit it. the dump truck made it past the SUV but the trailer he was draging dump over on the SUV.

That sucks! Its sounds like it couldnt be avoided, As much as im biased! If that is in fact what happened. All I can say is my prayers to the family & Albert for having that on his consience

It was also found that his brakes were, in fact, faulty.

When the brakes fail on a truck it's usually a loss of air. When you lose air the parking brakes apply locking up the wheels and causing you to lose control. At that point if you're moving the only wheels that won't be locked up will be your front(steer) axle tires. There are 2 gauges in the truck to show air pressure in your air tanks. He knew something was wrong.

You can also have mis-adjusted brakes where the air side of the system is fine but the brakes don't hold worth a damn. We used to own a trucking company and one of our dumbass drivers backed the brakes off instead of tightening them, and later that day totaled out the truck when he could not stop.
