I was friends with him back in the day. He was a good dude and was a safe driver. (For a mustang driver that is.) Last time I saw him, his Dad had a construction company and his brother helped out as well. The had 6 trucks at the time. I am pretty sure when Albert started driving that day he didn't know which truck he was driving and that brakes were going to fail.

The argument can be made that if the truck wasn't serviced requarly like found by the DOT then anyone who is involved in a wreck can be found guilty. My mom the other day got into a fender bender with another car on 190 service road. It was wet out, just enough rain to bring up the oil out of the streets. The car in front slammed on the brakes, my mom slid and tapped the car in front. Didn't even trade paint. The other driver called Richardson Police and my mom got a $200 fine for causing a road collision. Not being involved in one but the Main Cause.

He will probably get probation but the whole thing is fucked up. The case went to trial after five years of court delays, new judges and five prosecutors.That tell's you right there its a witch hunt! Prosecutors only take cases they can win, this case was a looser until they scraped the bottom of the barrel for a judge and DA to try the case.

This is a bummer, I hope you guys keep your brakes serviced!

A simple pump down test and a brake adjustment check could've saved that chick's life.

I know Albert. Even did business with the guy! But from my experience with him on a Heads Cam job on a 5.0 I had about 8 years ago is that he is lazy & doesnt take the extra step to cross his T's & dot his Is! Had a Anderson Cam being installed & I told him. Albert make sure you check the Piston to Valve Clearance before you put the heads on cause its a big cam. So what does he do. He installs the heads & bent all the valves in them. Now he passed the blame off to one of his other mechanics he had doing the work. My point is when do own up to your mistakes & take responsbilty for them. He refunded my money. But that wasnt till I came up there to the shop & took my car back from them without paying the bill & letting him know I had no problem going to jail for 30 days for assault & doing a year of probation if he didnt give me my money back I paid him.

On a personal level the guy is a good guy on a level of kicking it & Bullshitting, He is easy going & has a great personailty. But in my opionion. The guy is lazy & does half ass work!

Eric I didnt honor the guy in any way in my post, I was speaking of his nature & character in how he does business & handles the responsbiltys in his life.

I did know Albert, but that has nothing to do with what happened. Albert seemed like a good enough guy but his negligence is what earned him that sentencing. It would be similar to my concealed firearm accidentally going off in my pocket and the bullet striking a child and killing it (oddly enough it's called a negligent discharge). Did I mean to do it? No. Was it any fault of my own? Absolutely. As a CHL holder I am held to a higher level of firearm safety and training than Joe Blow and, if my pistol hadn't been loose and unsecured, it wouldn't have happened. That's the difference between involuntary manslaughter (Albert hit the lady in his personal vehicle) and the negligent homicide (in his work truck that he has to sign off on every time he drives it).
