Apparently this was my friend. I don't know the details of how it happened but I do know that he was a cautious rider, and an extremely smart guy. We always warned him about riding to and from work where there are so many idiots on the road (Las Colinas).

This is just killing me today.....a guy that I work with, I used to be his manager, and over the years we became really good friends. I was notified this morning that he was hit and killed riding his bicycle home from work last night. This guy was one of the most intelligent and kind people I've ever had the privilege to call

That is why I ride on the wrong side of the road, against the flow of traffic. I know it's illegal, but I also have a better chance of seeing what is about to get me. I have options if I see a driver that doesn't see me.

I've never seen it as bad till I moved to Downtown LA, it reminds of Paperboy. The scenes in the game, shit you'd never see like skateboarders, bicycle riders, crazy people running at you... all at the same time. I swear to god some people just want to watch the world burn.

I've ridden at least a few thousand miles on my roadbike. Rode ~200 miles from Austin to Concan, TX, ~170 miles from Austin to Karnes City, etc...only time I've ever gotten hit by a car was riding on the sidewalk. Sidewalks have blind corners around buildings, drivers only looking one way while pulling out, light posts, telephone poles (which I've hit after losing control close to 20 MPH...not fun...they don't move very far when you run into them...). I know the risks and I respect all vehicles and laws and feel very uncomfortable NOT wearing a helmet. Anyway, it can be dangerous, but if you're aware of everything, your chances are a lot better. People that ride around listening to their ipods without helmets are just asking for something horrible to happen. But sidewalks are equally if not more dangerous: you can still get creamed by a car riding on the sidewalk.

To all those bitching about cyclists - It used to be illegal to ride on the sidewalk. I don't know if it still is. I'm guessing so, with the amount of "bike lanes" going in.

Thanks Tim...you were right on this one...just have no words to put towards it.

I found out from his wife...he waited until after the traffic was dying down to head home, and unfortunately that meant it was also dark out....he was hit by a 21 year old girl, cops confirmed no alcohol, drugs, or cell phone involved....she simply didn't see him. Ironically he had just posted on FB about having purchased some new lights for night time riding too. I really have been beside myself all day...this has hit so close to home, just feeling awful....
