I haven't been canoeing in Caddo for quite some time. I would strongly suggest taking a handheld GPS with you, especially if the water is up. I happen to have the GPS along with those canoes.

There is primitive camping at Caddo, but it is on the wildlife management preserve. They do allow hunting at certain times, but that usually requires special permits. I'm sure more info could be found on that subject.

EDIT: I just noticed they offer canoe rentals there as well. While I would like to furnish you with canoes, limited hauling capacity might hinder that.

Please explain this "dispersed camping" a bit more.

I love the idea of just driving to the middle of a field where my dogs can run around freely and not have neighbors 30 feet away...I can't really find any literature on the websites..
