I'm interested to hear where you end up. We like to camp as far out from other folks as possible but that can be tough to achieve in Texas. We camped at lake Murray in Oklahoma last year in the early spring and it was nice. However, it was paved spots right next to each other.

The spot I found this time was right where two creeks merge into each other and into a small lake. It took several turns on back roads to get to it. We saw one older couple Friday morning that knew of the spot, but since we beat them to it, they moved on. Then on Saturday, one dude came down and parked his truck near us and walked down to fish from the bank a few hundred yards away for a few hours. The game warden came out and talked to us and used our side to check out the duck hunters on the other side through her binoculars. She was pretty cool. And that's it. The duck hunters started up Saturday morning, and they were all on the opposite side of the lake.
The original spot out there that I went to the last few times is beautiful, and they don't allow duck hunting on that particular lake, BUT kids use it for partying sometimes, so there is some trash around and you never know what kind of visitors you may have there.
I'll definitely be going out there more often now that it's getting colder. The colder and nastier it is, the better, because there are less people out there. When I went for 3 days last Feb, I didn't see a single other person the entire time.
