My mother has an HHR. She likes it. I beleive it gets pretty good mileage. It has just over 100k on it and she bought it new. Pretty trouble free to this point. She keeps up on the maintenance and has put on a set of tires about 93k.

I thought the sticker on those GM's was like 16 hwy? I'd get a suburban or Tahoe before that, if you like GM.

The 4runner would get my vote, or an Escape if she thinks its big enough. I bet they are not.

Ecoboost Edge. We have an 07 Edge and it is super comfortable, wish it got better gas mileage though, on the highway I can squeak 24mpg but when I drive it after my wife has been tooling around town it says 17.9!!

The wife drives a Nissan Rogue, never have had a problem with it and we bought it new. It has right about 60k right now and the only thing i have replaced are tires and the necessary maintenance.

Now im not 100% that a great dane will fit in there....

Used Explorer, Edge (actually pretty nice), or my preference, Acura MDX (even nicer).

My wife loves her highlander. 4 banger gets mid 20's and has been dead nuts reliable. Had it r years and has only needed an alternator and battery so far.

We got about 25-27 mpg running around town in the CRV we had. 30+mpg on a road trip was manageable with cruise set at 63-65mph. No complaints at all with it.
