  • Plastic Manufacturing

Ive been looking to replace the plastic covers on the glass for my t-top but i dont think anyone makes these parts so i started looking to have some made. Apparently, its gonna cost over 10k to have a mold made, then we can start making these plastics. Any idea as to what i can do to replace or rebuild these covers? I was thinking about having someone make some out of sheet metal but i bet they will be hot as hell in the summer time....any suggestions folks?

Did you check Latemodel? You might call those dudes. Some of them have a ton of fox parts squirreled away on the side.

Its a matter of making a mold. It could even be done in carbon fiber for rigidity. Though you would need a vaccum set up for that. I am unfamiliar with the part, so it is a little hard for me to give suggestions. There are a few ways to make a mold to lay the fiberglass

Right! However, with enough food grade RTV I could cast a scale replica......in chocolate

Hot Rod Magazine tested it in July 2010. Looks to be real easy and good results.

Well, I've called a few shops before and it appears that you get get just about any part for your car except the plastic cover for the top. I read a thread on another forum about hyper fiber, some guys were using it to make some really awesome cup holders where the ashtray goes in the fox body. I would probably screw it up anyway. I don't think chocolate would hold up in the summer time either.

This is the part in red

I can't tell if these pics showed up
