I've only ordered one tv online but it was delivered via freight company. They brought it all the way inside and made sure it wasn't damaged before they left

We are looking to upgrade from an old school 27" tube screen TV. Looking to spend less than $400. Everything I'm seeing that is decent size, 40"+ is insignia, westinghouse, etc. Names I've never heard of. What would you guys recommend. It is going in a pretty big room.

              Samsung or go home...

You may have to spend a bit more but I wouldn't recommend anything else.

Fyi, Don't be afraid to go plasma.

I got a couple of TV's a year ago at Tiger Direct. I went to the store just off the tollway north of the Galleria. At the time they had the best price that I found for the size. I picked up a 42" for downstairs and a 32" for upstairs. Both were Visio brand. They have been trouble free and were a huge upgrade over the 25" TV made in 1993 that they replaced.

This. I have a Samsung plasma 42" that I bought 7 years ago next month (for a fortune, at the time). It has survived 2 cross-country moves and has given me zero issues. The picture is still absolutely perfect.

$400 is unfortunately the upper limit of our budget.

Look at www.dealnews.com. They had a 60" LCD HDTV today for $688! I've seen 42" for less than $400.

                          Here's a 42" with a $25 Best Buy card for $350.
Assuming you use the gift card, that's among the lowest prices we've ever seen for any 42 LED HDTV.
