Since you're so open with everything else, what is your base rate of pay/hr? With enough overtime, anyone with a decent hourly rate can make good money. Quality of life sucks but some people clearly only care about the money.

We have some guys at our work that make $12/HR, bur with all their overtime, they pull in over $50k/yr. They earn it though.

We don't have a base rate. Our pay is based on 100 different things (thanks union) that all pay a different amount and really no two days are the same. Just a quick example we are paid on : Trip rate, miles, over miles, air pay, # of engines, # of cars, late meal, no meal, tow in, held away, travel pay, 25 mile zone, off assigned limits, prep time, certification pay, short crew pay, fire man pay, student pay, initial terminal, zone time, guarantee ect ect. Depending on the day if you divided the amount of hours I worked by the pay it averages between $45 an hour on a bad day and $100 an hour on a good day.

If you're working 80 hours a week, which is the equivalent of working double a normal persons work week, and you're making 100k a year, wouldn't that really only be like making 50k a year for a normal person? Who the hell wants to work that many hours?

for some of us, work is a vacation.. when im at home i get sent to home depot, then i gotta go out to the garage and bust out my own tools, or go to the nursery and change diapers.. work is a nice get-away, and if i'm getting paid time.5 or double time after 8 hours then fuck it, cha-chinngg, or better yet, choo choOOoo!!!

Everytime my phone rings at the very least $400 goes in my pocket. With most days ranging between $400 and $700. On top of that the phone rings every 10hrs 7 days a week. With out ever stepping foot on property Im guarranted over 8k a month just for giving my phone number to the rr.

FRA law is 276 hours a month max which I have never done.

FRA law states you can not work more than 6 consecutive days.

Dallas to Sweetwater pays me $370 and takes me 5-6 hours to get there on a 70mph train.


100K+ a year easy with a 40-50 hour work week. 80 hours a week? Pass the bong.
