          try consignment furniture stores....

I know my wifes grandmother's furniture went there(she lived in a 12,000 sqft place). The furniture was ment and was straight up from the 60's. I tried to get some of it, but the "kids" wanted all the money they could get.

So it's been over three years now, figured I would update this with what I've been doing to my 1966 North Arlington Mid Century Modest Ranch house, and that infernal couch situation. I decided to go mostly original mid century modern where I could, and I've inadvertently created a new hobby for myself searching for vintage furniture and accents.

I finally got the couch after a long time looking. A Craft Associates design from Adrian Pearsall, one of the granddaddies of MCM furniture design. This thing is fucking awesome. Found it in Atlanta, and had it shipped here. The board member who helped can mention it if they'd like, don't want them to get inundated with PMs looking for hookups if they're not inclined.

The coffee table is a Noguchi, designed by Norman Miller, found on Amazon, strangely enough. The display case is a name I'm not familiar with, looks like it was built by a small shop in London, likely imported by a serviceman in the mid 60's from the tag on the back. The 2 different style egg chairs are self explanatory; I had them brought in from California. The matching white table I stumbled on at The Vintage Freak in Hurst and picked up for a steal.

The big lamp is a pretty funny story, I actually won it by commenting on a FB photo from a local place called Retro Revival. Scott, the owner, was great. I was picked randomly out of about 400 comments early this year. Probably the coolest(and most expensive)prize I've ever won. "It's a major award!"

The lit up picture deal hanging above the Pearsall I found in an antique store coming back from floating the Guad in 2001. I just thought it was neat, and bought it, having no idea how it would eventually match my evolving interests in the ensuing years. It's heavy as hell, and back lit by a single long fluorescent bulb that is a huge fucking pain to replace(done twice in 13 years). Turning it on is one of the first things I do every morning after letting out the dog and turning on the coffee pot.

Anyway, here it is. My living room is decent sized, so I really have 2 living rooms in this one room, and this is the "formal" side without the TV.

First pic with the old couch, second with the "new" Pearsall.

Sorry for rambling on, but as you can probably tell, I'm having a lot of fun and getting a kick out of this stuff. PS: Chili loves it when you say "Mid Century Modern."
