Baylor keeps going up as well. Not sure with TCU, but Baylor is retardedly generous with scholarship money. Merit based scholarships for SAT/ACT performance alone had my tuition at about $3k more per semester than a state school.

I use the general US News and World Report as just a non specific base point.

I needed a 3.0 at the end of freshman year to keep my scholarship. I retook a class, making my first semester gpa 2.75. I made a 3.4 with 15 hours my second semester in order to stay in school . I graduated with a 3.5. I managed to sleepwalk my way through high school with an A/B average and figured I could do the same in college. I realized after one semester and the prospect of losing my scholarship and leaving school that I needed to put in a little more effort.

She finally got money through McCombs her junior and senior year, but never more than a couple thousand. Go figure.

My wife has an acquaintance that has worked at TCU for 12 years or so (in the office; no big-shot) and her two kids both went to school there on "full scholarship". She always says the pay isn't that great, but with 8 years of tuition figured in, I'm thinking she's done pretty well. We have a friend at DBU and they have the same policy for employee's kids.
I had a couple of friends who graduated with me that were on the employee's kid free ride deal. Pretty sweet deal.

Tuition is high because there isn't a steady stream of taxpayer dollars being (inefficiently) poured into their coffers.

Good job. Not all kids can pull it together. It's a great school and you got a great education. I hope you're able to put it to use.

Tuition discussion came up last night during the TCU/UT game and I had to respond here....

TCU is now ~$3K less than Harvard per year in tuition. I think I'd rather send my kid to an Ivy League for the same kind of scratch....

Of course. There's one small detail called "acceptance". I would think it's a helluva lot tougher to get into Harvard than it is TCU. If your kid CAN get into Harvard, it's a no-brainer.

You'd be surprised at how many folks think it's just a money issue. Hell, Rice is about as tough as Harvard, and it's well over $40k a year with housing.

Most people I talk to have nothing but good things to say about you, but you sure come across as a condescending prick. Do you have an inferiority complex you've attempted to overcome through overachievement? Or were you fondled as a child?

You and slow99 should date. You both have passive aggressiveness down pat.

What do you think federal grants, scholarships and loans are? That's exactly why tuition is high for EVERY University now. Oh, the government is paying for it? Great! We'll unnecessarily raise prices! Just because they're a private University and not DIRECTLY getting funding from the government like a state institution is, don't let that fool you.
How do we forget ourselves? How do we forget our minds?

At one point it was easier to transfer - go to a state school, bust ass and then transfer in.
