Not the first time that has happened in Indy. Many years ago a very similar thing happened.... weird.

The GF just did an inspection on a house that had a major gas leak...luckily the old couple that rented it from the actual owners kept their windows open all day and night. She went in for just a matter of seconds and almost passed out.

There is a large pocket of methane gas in Wyoming at about the level of the water table. It was found when a couple built a vacation cabin, and had a water well dug. One day the gas came up through the lines and blew the house up, similar to that one.

i've lived in both, i'd take gas over electric only any day. when the power goes out for a few days i'll still be able to take a hot shower and eat some hot ramen lol
