No shit. Look at the houses in the bottom of the overhead shot that Magnus posted. Windows on the back side are completely blown out.

John Shirley said his daughter was at a friend's house at the time of the explosion, he said. Monserrate Shirley and her boyfriend were at a casino and the family cat was being boarded, he said
A spokesman for Citizens Energy reconfirms that the utility has found no gas main leaks in the Richmond Hill subdivision where the explosion occurred. The utility also says it had no reports of gas leaks prior to the explosion, including the home of Monserrate Shirley. Investigators have not ruled out any potential causes yet. Fox 59 News' Russ McQuaid is also reporting that Monserrate Shirley recently filed bankruptcy and the bank that holds the mortgage to the home had begun foreclosure proceedings against her.

Everyone was out of the house... even the cat?

And they were broke and losing their house?

Nope, nothing sketchy here!, move along...

LOL, How in the holy hell do you create an explosion like that? That is insane. I'm really interested in seeing what they find.

This is crazy. I know they have not found a leak yet, but with an explosion of that magnitude, there could be a lot that will not be found and pipes bent, melted, or whatever to not leak.

Imagine filling a 2500-4000 square foot house with natural gas completely then igniting it. I could see a blast that big for sure. I have seen small filled container blasts, but imagining something 500x - thousandsX or more would undoubtly cause that.

My neighbor sent me a text with a link to this article, saying he fears this would happen to our neighborhood if my house caught fire.

I'm gonna laugh my ass off when they find the control panel from the gas stove with all knobs set to high (4 miles away)

NG vapors will ignite in the 5-15% concentration range. I don't care to do math at the moment, but I wonder how long it would take to fill a house to that point with something like a 4 burner stove?

I have a feeling we will find out within a few days....two story house they will have two thermostats more than likely, set upstairs one to turn on at X, or leave a candle burning in a closet upstairs.....

what is crazy with an explosion of that magnitude they may never actually know.

damn. I'd like to see some close up pictures of the carnage. So, if all the people of the house that blew up were out, the two deaths were neighbors.

so if they find out they did do this on purpose, would it be 2nd/3rd degree murder or voluntary manslaughter?

IN a neighborhood like that, the act itself was premeditated and they did it knowing there were houses nearby that were at risk....that presents a good point. They could claim ignorance to the fact that they thought it would only destroy the one house but come on...
