    Remove the oil fill plug, the oil will drain faster and the filter will be easier to remove.

    Drain the oil just like you would with a car. With the bike on a kickstand you may have to hold it upright to drain all the oil out. Sometimes sitting on the bike to compress the rear suspension more oil will come out too. Drain as much as you can.

    On the filter, it may be over the exhaust header and you do not want oil all over it. Use a piece of cardboard or foil as a "ramp" for the oil to flow down and into your drain pan.

    Install new filter, add oil that's it.

    I always found my bikes drained better on the side stand since the plug was always on that side of the motor.

    and I did the foil thing as well on the header to keep them clean.

    On my GSXR I found that I was able to drain the oil without removing any fairing at all.
