  • Canton swap meet this weekend.

Anyone been to the Canton swap meet? Shows that it is Nov 9-11th. Is it a fairly large swap meet? Worth the drive from Dfw?

Not too big, but generally OK... weather should be good so most vendors will show up on Saturday morning and pack up around 5 or so... a few will hang around on Sunday, but most will be long gone.

I'll go tomorrow morning about 9ish and spend a few hours walking around and then over to
my MIL's for a dandy lunch with my wife's family.

Also of note.. . pretty good car show (probably 150 entries) going on over in Edgewood tomorrow as well, get there early if you want a spot... it starts winding down around 2PM or so.

Just go to dogtown for the good people watchin'. Seriously, bring a camera.

The rest is ok, sometimes there's some cool stuff, a lot is overpriced like any swap meet.

Figured the same stuff had been showing up the last few meets here in the DFW area so I might venture over and see if anything cool shows up that is worth restoring.

What are you talking about? I have never known the Canton CAR swap meet to extend over to the dog section. I usually cover the whole thing in about an hour just at the main grounds.

That is for sure....most are only fishing or in hopes that somebody shows up with more $$$ than brains. I always like the ones that say something along the lines of..."with a paint job it could bring $30k". More like, spend $45k and you might get $20-25k out of it!

Only an hours worth of stuff... not worth the 2 1/2 hour round trip then....

I have made some good deals there though. Found a Model A coupe lid for $40, sold for $150 .

Is it on the main grounds, the old mill marketplace, or dog alley? I would think that it would be on the main grounds. I was in the Old Mill for 3 years.

Kinda' light turnout for vendors this time... probably about 3/4ths full on the vendor spaces, got a sweet deal on a set of nice (mostly unused) hole saws with the trick arbor for only $10.00, also found some Federal Pacific circuit breakers for $20.00.

Lotsa' other junk too.... not many cars this time either.
