I've got all Ryobi stuff. It's inexpensive and has held up well. If you're going to use it on the job, Makita or Dewalt would be better.

So I had a 20% off Home Depot coupon, went down and got a Ryobi 18V lithium ion setup with the drill, 2 batteries, charger & a bag.......it was $79 after the coupon. VERY nice.

Although I will say I've bought other HF tools had very little problems with them.
That's the same one we have.

As have I, however if you have a long bit or socket in your drill/impact it will bend the shaft. It'll keep working, but that mofo will be bent.

Just break down and buy a DeWalt...last drill you'll ever buy.

                      Ah, DeWalt. The Redneck's Makita.

                      this was a troll.

I'm not knocking Makita, I used them when I was a tech at a dealer, but walk around about any construction site and look at the number or DeWalt or Milwaukee that is being used.

When I worked at a dealer, all the techs used makitas as well. I'm not knocking Dewalts, but I'm just making fun of the fact that it seems like they are the rednecks makita. I find it humorous how there is an odd divide of product loyalty.

Ive always wondered about that too. The snapon/matco/cornwell trucks all had the makita, so that was what tended to be bought.

When we had the home fire/resto company, we had almost exclusively dewalt, but partly because my dad loved to shop pawn shops.

When I worked in the fire alarm/access control biz, we had milwaukee tools provided.

We use a ton of recipricating saws here, and they all wear out pretty quick.

Probably just their marketing. Makita has always marketed their impacts to techs, Dewalt has always marketed their drills to carpenters/construction. At least, that's where I see 90% of them.

Until recently dewalt did not make anything compact enough with enough power to be as useful to mechanics. Their new 12 volt lithium impact driver is decent but its hard for them to compare to Bosch in that size and power range.
