  • Harbor Freight cordless drill...yea or nay?

My lightly used 5 year old Craftsman died last night. I may just get the Harbor Freight cordless drill. Opinions....Decent ? or POS?

I use it once or twice a week on average

They suck. I bought one for work a few years ago (18 volt) and the battery would die extremely quickly, it had NO torque and it felt like something Fisher Price would build for kids. Go buy a used Dewalt or similar at a pawn shop or on Ebay.

Mine worked fine until it fell off the shelf I set it on and shattered.

I don't think I would risk it.. We are on our second Ryobi, the new one is 18V, it's great.

NO, they are junk! Porter cable and hitachi both make decent drills for the money, whatever you get make sure it is lithium.

If you want cheap ckeck bigskytool. They have good deals (and online coupons) for reconditioned Hitachi tools. Lots of happy people from slickdeals with their reconditioned tools

Yea or nay? I'd say buying a cordless drill at Harbor Freight would be a naynay.

Dude anything from that place sucks! You'd be better off spending the extra $$$ on a good brand name drill. Just my opinion.

Well, I read the online reviews of the HF cordless drill -some were good, but the ones that were bad were.....BAD. With an exta battery it would have been $50.

So I had a 20% off Home Depot coupon, went down and got a Ryobi 18V lithium ion setup with the drill, 2 batteries, charger & a bag.......it was $79 after the coupon. VERY nice.

Although I will say I've bought other HF tools had very little problems with them.
