It's good for ripping through heavy stuff like plastic/rope/etc, or for starting a cut for the straight edge to finish. I ended up going with a non-serrated tanto this go-around and I am doing fine.

thats the knife I carried for a couple years before I switches to Benchmade. Out of all the kershaw knives I owned that was my favorite. I still have it somewhere, the assisted opening spring broke.

I've been carrying the Ka-bar Warthog for a couple years now and it's been a great knife for $20.

Send it back to kershaw and they should fix it for free. Check out their warranty info on their web page.

Not a pocket knife, but I have a big ass Ka-Bar that I take camping.

The bad: I dropped it about 4 feet onto carpet, and the blade broke right at the handle. WTF?

The good: I called Ka-Bar, and they were very nice, and offered to ship a new one to me. I needed it the very next day to go on a camping trip, so they called Cheaper than Dirt and convinced them to go ahead and swap it out for me on the spot, even though that's not their normal policy. The new one has been fine.

So, maybe suspect quality, or maybe I just got the rare bad one, but their customer service was excellent, imo.

"Hey, Ka-bar? Hi, this is Jared again...... The guy that broke the big ass Ka-bar....... Yeah. Hey, I kinda had to use the new one and... Yeah I broke it. Broke it over a bear's head camping. Yeah no shit. Hey, y'all got a bear skull-rated version?"
