It generally averages around 15mpg but I've gotten as little as 13 out of a tank (did some towing on that one though, but not for the entire tank), and best was right at 17 with an all hwy trip using the cruise a lot. The overhead display is way more optimistic than my math. I'm not hard on it, but I'm not one to drive around always thinking of getting the most efficient mileage either. However, as far as the power goes, I just don't agree that these ending 5.4 trucks are turds....it has plenty of power for everything I've done so far, and it gets down the road real well when you lay into it. I've also towed my car trailer (loaded) a couple times, and no complaints there either....hell it still accelerated real well getting onto 35W with the Chevelle strapped on a month or so ago. I'm not arguing that the 5.0's aren't quicker, I'm sure they are....but at the same time, the last couple years of the 5.4 were no dogs either.
We picked a 4x4 5.4 2010 up for my wife last month and the 2 tanks I hand calculated were both in the 17's. Thats city and hwy.

...just wait, it'll likely get worse. Mine hand calculated 17's out of the first 2 tanks, but then went downhill from there. Not sure if it learning driving strategy made it worse over time, or if it was just b/c I was being really easy on it when it was brand new. Either way, I've noticed it has decreased over these first 5000 miles.

FWIW - Mine is a SC 2WD with 3.55's. However, it is a Lariat with every available option, so I'm sure all of the gadgets add a bit of weight to it as well.

Why are these F150s so pricey? I was pricing the new F150 5.0 4WD thats comparable to the F250 Super Duty in options, and they are only 5-10k less. Hmmmm... I really do like the new Ford F series trucks though.

The 5.0 in the trucks is shit for low end torque. The RAM 5.7 is so much smoother down low and off the line. Might do some research too as there are rumors of a 6.1 or 6.4L Hemi Ram with a big jump in HP. That motor is supposed to make 475+ in the challenger.

I am looking at Suburbans and Tahoes....but if Dodge puts a 6.4L in a ram...I will likely jump on it although I hate car payments.

I will have to disagree. I thought they felt pretty damn good. I would put it up against the Hemi. My truck out does the new Hemi's with no problem. But i do like the Dodge Trucks. I just don't think it will out do the new 5.0. But I could be wrong.

You have a Yota' right? If so, it has VERY deep gearing in 1st and second along with 4.10 or 4.30 rear end...so yeah, it gets out of the hole. Still didn't like driving one as it felt "foreign" when we were shopping and the interior wasn't very truck like.

Still can't get past the prices on the fords and chevys.

I'm with you on this. I have about 4300 miles on mine and seem to average about 16mpg. I didn't buy a truck to have something fast, I have a car for that. The truck is hella nice and I can tow and move stuff at will with it.

You guys might want to make sure you can't turn off the trucks while in gear and remove the key. I found out about this lil issue with mine in a very rude and almost extremely dangerous way I gotta take mine in to get this fixed.

Try a 2010 F150 4.6 with a Kenne Bell twin screw. Should be somewhere around 475 RWHP.
