Well looks like I AM coming home early. My wife's father passed away today from type 1 diabetes and refusing to take care of himself, mixed with severe alcoholism as a functioning drunk sun up to sun down. I am gonna miss the guy but not his antics and the grieve he caused my MIL who is the absolute saint of the world. When i got the wake up I was sure he had checked himself out of life. Talking to my wife who doesn't have all the facts yet, it doesn't seem to be the case. I sure hope not too.
So in his own sick perverted way he made it possible for me to be there for her for the next couple weeks. I just found out and Red Cross hasn't even been called yet but I am sure I am going to have to work some verbal judo in order to get my full and regular R&R which starts in 11 days combined with 10 days of bereavement. I hope they don't make me fly all the way back after 10 days just to scan in and out then back on a 20+ hour flight back to DFW.
Sad he couldn't see that life was worth living long enough to put his Leaving Las Vegas bullshit aside long enough to see his first and probably only grandchild born in a few weeks.
