The turbo version of the optima is a very sweet car. As for the sorento's....we often call them the nicest pieces of shit since the interior plastics are very brittle.

As for the pushing dents from hail, I'll say the shittiest sheetmetal award goes to dodge. Most of the time we just refer them to a body shop since most of the panels will have to be replaced.

They're nice cars especially for the money and awesome warranty. I love the Honda commercial I have seen that makes fun of them for having a 100k warranty...

They arent quite there yet. Theyre still behind in the mpg, interior, resale value depts vs their Japanese competition. Their cars look great though.

I think for a 4-door car the Optima is pretty good looking. We had one has a rental car a few years ago and drove it to Florida and back. I was actually impressed. Before that I was a "I would never by a KIA if my life depended on it". After that I thought that if I ever was in the market for a 4 door economical family car, I would definately consider it as an option. 100k mile warranty isn't shabby either.

The reason why they look good now is that they hired the lead designer form Audi. Lol. Or so i heard. Also the new Hyundai genesis R-Spec and equus or w/e it is are nice ass cars. Every time i see one i think its a Mercedes or something. Lol

Go drive the Optima and decide for yourself. You can see that there is a load of bias around here with people that have made up their own minds. The fact is that Kia and Hyundai no longer build shit. There definitely was a time that they were but not any more.

The fact is that no one really makes bad cars any longer. Suzuki is constantly rated as the worst cars but even their stuff is pretty good when compared with anything built 10 or 15 years ago.

You're always going to hear folks bitch about the time they had a problem with so and so car brand. Those complaints may indeed be very valid but they are also just anecdotal when compared to the overall picture. You also never know of the person bitching did something to screw up the car themselves. Folks are rarely capable of admitting their own faults.

Oh, and on that fuel economy thing. Hyundai and Kia admitted fault and are giving debit cards to everyone that bought those cars, paying them the difference based on the miles they have driving. Name one car company that has come back and given money to buyers after admitting a mistake. They probably did it to cut any class action suit off at the knees but it was still a damn good move from a business perspective.

So go drive it yourself. Just stay the fuck away from Central Kia. Those guys have a terrible reputation. Try out Moritz Kia. Ed Wallace thinks very highly of them.

Oh, and consider trying out the new Ford Fusion. That car is beautiful.
Yes they are gorgeous cars. I shoulda waited and got the 2013 turbo fusion. But im stuck with this wimpy 2.5L 2011 Fusion. Lol.

They are good cars, in the sense that they are much better built and more reliable than they used to be. Generally speaking, I think Hyundai is better overall than Kia.

They are not perfect. Their engines are a little harsh, and they are overall not as refined as a Honda or Toyota. They also do not hold their values all that well, if buying new, be prepared to take a big depreciation hit.

We have the 4 cyl in our 2012 Fusion too, its a little underpowered but still impressive mpg. I drove a 2013 Fusion Titanium with the 2.0 Ecoboost. That thing kicks ass. It pulls like a mofo on the hwy and I turned the traction control off and it smoked the tires through first and part of second. I was very impressed. It felt like a SVO my buddy had with a few mods.

I built one at Fords website, SE, 205pkg and the 2.0 EB, it was MSRP for 26k.

Saw a new commercial last night for the new Hyundai Genesis type S sedan. Said it has a 429hp 5.0 V8 and their selling point was it's faster 0-60 than a Porsche Panamera S... Car looked pretty good.

Whats your avg MPG? Im gettin a lil over 25mpg. About 360 miles or a lil more to a tank. I just hate how i have to give it a lil more than half throttle to get going on the highway. Lol. I try to do the hyper mileage stuff. But this car just moves too slow to doing anything.

I like them a lot. A guy here at work has a new one and I'm impressed.

The biggest problem they have has already been displayed in this thread. People hear KIA and Hyundai and they think crap, well because they were for so long. When my wife started nursing school last year we had to go down on car payment. At the time she was driving an Infinity G35 sedan which we were in a good spot financially with but the payment was not super cheap. She said lets go look at this new KIA and I looked at her like she just lost her god damned mind. I went and looked and was sold on a optima sx model in the corsa blue. We traded her G35 in and leased the KIA for 2 years, just long enough for her to get through nursing school. When she starts to bring home an income again she can get whatever she wants and in the meanwhile she is not driving a shit box. That was 18 months ago. My impressions of the car after 18 months are overall very good. Being an SX version it has the 1.8l turbo engine that can frankly get the car easily out of its own way. This is what I was most surprised with in a KIA. It also does not hurt to get 27mpg around town and 34 on the hwy. When I fill the 18 gallon tank up on it it sure feels nice to see the range go to 600 miles. The cooled seats for 2 summers now have kept my ass and balls from becoming a total swamp when getting into the car in the 100+ degree days and really do work well. There have been times that I have said shit turn it off my ass is freezing. The only real downside to the car that I have is that it has developed a few rattles and while nice you can tell the build quality may not be top notch but not bad by any means. Also the sound deadening is not that great at all.
