The problem with laser detection is that unlike radar which goes out everywhere, the laser beam is only about 3 feet wide at 1,000'. If they are not shooting at you, you will not pick up the signal 99% of the time. If they are shooting at you, you have no time to slow down. You are done. The number of LIDAR guns in use goes up by huge numbers every year. It is easy to use and they can pinpoint each vehicle without giving away their position unlike radar.

LIDAR jammers have been available for over 15 years. No need for mythbusters. They work.

like I said, if you're the only one on the road, you have to drive like it... I got saved in Ennis when they were sitting up on the overpasses running laser... the V1 picked up a little signal and I hauled down on the brakes. I was doing my usual 80+ and I believe it slows down to 60 on that stretch.

got saved a couple times in houston... motorcycle cops sitting under overpasses in the shadows running laser.

I speed everywhere... if I get a ticket, I get a ticket... but playing "the speeding game" keeps me awake and alert! LOL

I was not sure if they worked or not. I have not known anyone that has used one. Why the heck would you buy a detector if the jammers work? Or does it just temporarily jam the signal and the detector is needed to let you know they are there so you can slow down?

How can they tell if you have a detector? Do they broadcast a signal?

Yes, some detectors can be "seen", google VG2.

Laser detection capability is built into every "radar detector". Radar jamming is illegal everywhere. Laser jamming is not in most places. Two different technologies. You can run a stand alone laser jammer and no radar detector but you will only detect and jam laser and not detect radar. Radar is still in heavy use and you need both for the most complete system.

What laser jammer would you recommend?

but as someone said, common sense helps a lot. you cant just depend on the detector.

I just don't see the point in a detector. the last one I had I just didn't see a reason in having and sold it to someone on here, like 8 years ago. I don't normally speed in my car because I like to save on gas.

The only time I'd need one is on my bike and so I'd have to get one with the helmet notification or else I'd never hear the damn thing.

And now something that CONTRIBUTES to the thread:

I've had a Valentine for the past 8 years, not 1 ticket. I used to go from Houston to Dallas every weekend for about 3 years and it saved me countless times! Now i have an 80 mile commute to work and it works great. I did have to send it in for rebuild once.

I just got a passport solo S2 seems to work pretty good or as good as one could work. I like it mainly because it's cordless and somewhat reasonable. Hell I've sped for years without one and haven't had a ticket in a long time common sense was the best answer anyone has posted.

I laughed when I saw it.
Laser Veil works in conjunction with a good laser jammer system. It can be the difference between a ticket and a close call in a 'ambush' situation.

As for radar detectors, its v1 or Passport Qi45, but for the price, v1. and don't forget to mount it high by the mirror.

passport x50, v1, hell even bell electronics higher end stuff is fine. just get one, understand it is just a detector, and it will pay itself off pretty fast.

Nothing wrong with the Qi45 as a DETECTOR but just so everyone understands, the Qi45 does NOT include laser jamming. It is an option for the FRONT only.
The 9500ci adds lots of features and includes the front and rear laser jamming.
