Heading that way again for work in two weeks. Not sure where I'm staying yet, my usual hotel took a little water.

This is from Monday, before Sandy came through.

I was watching abc news last night, and they showed this stupid bitch living in a hard hit area and she was no there bitching saying she needs help.

She says she has no water, no electricity, no food or gas. WTF is wrong with people like her. Leave go to a shelter or somewhere that has those things. Jesus I really hate those type of people that think things like electricity, food or water will magically appear in 24-72 hrs after a hurricane in the most hit area.

Get your fat ass on a rescue truck and leave. Or better yet you should left when they you too.

Quote taken from a friend of mine:
The front page of the USA Today says that few communities had done anything to prepare for a storm like Hurricane Sandy. Reuters says that NY wants the Feds to pay 100% of the disaster relief costs. So typical. NY, you should get treated just like NO after Katrina, like the Redneck Riv did, and just like my small little town in Texas. Where we had 30% of our tax base burned right off the face of the Earth. No massive Federal Aid. In fact we had the misfortune to be in Texas when Perry was running so we got a very cold shoulder from the Feds. Still are. I'm sorry people. It sucks. Life sucks. We'll help the best we can. But there ain't a Santa Clause, an Easter Bunny or an unlimited government budget. No, Comptroller DiNapoli, the Feds can't just print money. Yes a certain amount of assistance needs to come from a National level, think of it as a nationwide insurance pool since sooner or later every part of the country gets fucked by Mother Nature eventually. But unless the locals get wacked hard, they will do stupid things. Like build right on the beach, have a home in a River flood plain, build inferior houses in earthquake country, not build tornado shelters, the list goes on. Again life sucks. And then you die.

There are some things I can sympathize with and some circumstances completely valid why someone could not leave or prepare better. BUT of course there is a shit load of lazy mf'r's that didn't and won't ever do a damn thing for themselves. I have no pity for them.

This whole thing with the mayor insisting on running the marathon anyway, tying up resources is pathetic. I "get" the city can stand to gain about $350m from it. I "get" that postponing it or cancelling means a lot or all of that revenue lost. I "get" that he thinks it helps restore some normalcy, but you got thousands of people who may never know their "normalcy" again and right now they need basic survival needs, not grabbing generators and cops and fire to watch over a bunch of runners.

Ny is a liberal haven where the belief is that government is there to be a protective parent and take care of everything. There is no self reliant culture of bearing personal responsibility. Im not surprised in the least that people stayed and then expect and then complain when those expectations prove to be overblown.

Typical yankee jerk. Nothing big enough or fast enough to help him. You sat on a damn island rather than at least trying to get to higher ground? Screw him.
