You dont have to study to learn guitar. I learned just by messing around and figuring it out.

A chord book does help, but thats far from learning to play the drums correctly, or piano.

I can hear it now when you get into a playoff. One plays jingle bells and the other Mary had a little lamb.

There's so much I don't know. The song in my sig I hope to one day be able to play and understand the mechanics behind it.

In short, absolutely, if you're willing to put in the time and energy.
Sure you can learn but it's not necessarily the right way of learning and doesn't give you a deep fundamental understanding of how to play.

Been seriously considering picking up the harmonica. I found a book at half price books that came with a harmonica and taught you how to play it. All's I wants to do is play "ol' Susana"
                    .....bro....

I've always wanted to learn the piano and violin, I told myself I'd start taking lessons someday soon. That was over 2 years ago, but still determined to learn.

I played trumpet and piano as a kid, about six years on each. Even then I would memorize my piece or play by ear, I never liked reading music. I haven't studied either in 15 years, and after recent attempts, will never play worth a damn without learning to read music all over again.

I'd love to learn guitar and play piano again, but it takes tons of time, dedication, and expert tootaliege for a no-talent ass clown like me.

LMAO! Look at all these mother fuckers who make fun of me talking about learning to play instruments!

In short, it will be harder to learn the older you get, but with determination and time and patience it is completely feasible. It will be harder than the violin, and you will get frustrated. Both hands have to work separately and together, at the same time, and there are many, MANY more notes to read at one time.

I say go for it! I've always wanted to learn to play the chello but I haven't read music sine about 6th grade, maybe. My daughter tried to teach me a few chords on a guitar and that was hard...my fingers did not want to cooperate.

I'm just gonna stick to what I know. I started mowing yards when I was 10 so I could buy all the cool shit my parents wouldn't or couldn't buy me, mainly to support my skateboarding. Then I thought, "I need a drum kit." So, I mowed my ass off for a couple of years and saved up enough to buy a shiny new Pearl Export five piece, Zildjian supporting bronze and hardware. I played the shit out of that kit in my parent's attic daily for years. Then, as an eighteen year old idiot, sold the whole mess to put a down payment on a new car that I didn't need.

I've played steering wheel and dead pedal drums ever since. The only cool thing is, as a right handed player, it's hard to hit the "bass" because it's the gas pedal. So, over the years my left (dead pedal) leg is completely trained to be as good as, if not better, than my right. When jr. is old enough, I'm buying us the Drum Workshop kit that I always drooled over as a kid, but could never afford and I'm turning a spare bedroom in to a jam room. It will be fucking awesome.
