I think if you're going to buy a Honda, a used Accord is too good a deal. They get stupid mileage, as long as they aren't v6's, and they're always comfortable.

Honda, for what it's worth I bought a 1996 accord in 2001 5 spd with 91,000mi on it and got rid of it in 2011 with 224,000 mi. I only had replaced both cv axles and a egr valve in that span. Drive a 07 accord now with Squeaks and rattles and CD player inop with 75k. Honda quality has gone down of late in my opinion. See the 2008-2010 accord oil burning issue. My buddies burning a 1qt of oil every 1,500mi.

I've read a lot on the 06's and 07's having issues, but I haven't really had any problems. All I've done on it is the regular maintenance. I do need to put a new upper control arms on the rear because Honda put the wrong ones on from the factory. So if you get an 06 or 07, check to make sure they've been changed, if not, you're going to be replacing tires pretty quick.

Get a higher mileage 04-05 Acura TSX or an 08 Civic.
02-05 Civics are garbage (minus the Si version built in the UK) and 06-07 model have issues as stated before.
The corolla is so boring I wouldn't even consider one unless its an XRS version, but they have problems as well.
