What to do on a roadtrip?

I'm going to be driving from Fort Worth, TX to Missoula, MT with my Dad in about 2-3 weeks. I'm trying to figure out something fun for us to do on the way. I'm in my mid 20's and he's in his mid 50's, so it would need to be something fun for both of us.

Any of ya'll have any suggestions that might be worth a stop?

Take back roads, like old US highways, instead of interstates. Stop at seedy joints for beers, and past that, I'm not helping you. You're driving through all the best parts of the front ranges of the Rockies. Your trip should make itself.

Hookers, blow, and seedy beer joints are a given. I'll be in and around the Rockies for the next year, so i'll save most of that type stuff for my time up there. I want to do something that i'm not going to have a lot of chances to do in the near future.

I was looking around, and I might of found a little something. Take 35 North to Oklahoma City, take historic route 66 west for a little while, and then go north to Dodge City, KS. There's a cool looking old west museum in Dodge City called Boot Hill Museum. Me and my Dad are both big fans of westerns, so I thought it might be cool to see Wyatt Earp's old stomping grounds. Anyone been up there before?
