  • adopting a dog..

Not sure how I should approach this but a few weeks ago one of my dogs died. The other dog has become somewhat lathargic and depressed.. We are thinking a new dog might cheer him up. he is a good dog and good around others too.. since he was 12 weeks old he has always been with my other dog til recent. He does get along well with other dogs too. he is 10 years old.

we are thinking of a boxer and i would like to rescue one (since they seem to be great family dogs with a lot of energy..

any suggestions where to start? we dont want to go through a breeder since we will not be breeding or showing this dog. but we would like a dog less then a year old (if possible). prefer a female too!

Try Legacy Boxer Rescue out of DFW or pet finder.

Pits are really great around people if brought up as house dogs.. He has the power to take anything down he wants but is completely full of love and bad gas.

petfinder and work with a rescue... Rescues can be a bit of a hassle but they are trying to make sure a dog doesnt go through another bad life.

Oh my god do pits have the worst farts or what! I couldn't even blame the dog half the time because mine weren't stinky enough, lol. Good luck with the search, boxers are crazy energetic but the one we used to have was dumb a hell, that was part of his charm though.

I got Eva at the Irving Animal Center as a rescue. She was a "code red" where she had less than 24 hours left before she would be put down. I adopted her with about 3 hours left on the clock.

She's been the absolute best dog i've ever had.

Save a life if you can. Do a search (or ask the shelter) about their urgent animals and they can steer you to them. I don't know if anyone else felt this way but it was absolutely heartbreaking to see so many animals in need of homes. I will always go to a shelter or rescue first.

I just had a litter of bassebeaglebulls two days ago that should be an interesting mix. If you have a lil time to wait.

This guy is at our local rescue. I met him a couple of weeks ago at an adoption day. He's an Anatolian mix who is very laid back and calm. He's a neutered male who is about 9 months old. He isn't aggressive or dominant. He's good with other animals, with the exception of geese. I tried talking Robert into getting him, but that's a no go since we have too many kids and pets.

If your current dog is 10, I wouldn't really recommend a boxer as a companion for an older dog like that. They are energetic and spastic, and tend to annoy older dogs. My boxer is as dumb as a bucket of hammers, and bounces off the walls, but he's finally starting to grow on me. That said, older dogs don't really like him, because he's all over the place. Unless of course, you can find an older boxer that is more calm.

Best dog I've EVER had is a Bulloxer. I will own another. I know, I know. Rescue blah blah blah. But I want what I want.
