BIL arrested in Tarrant County

Long story short BIL has worked for an employer in sales for 19 years and is their top salesman. Anyway his employer got word he was going to their top competitor and they terminated him Monday.

So Tuesday he started his new job. This morning a fort worth pd detective called him and asked him to come down and give his side of the story. Well when he got there they arrested him on the spot and he has to stay overnight until the judge gets back tomorrow.

Supposedly his employer terminated him for delivering product prior to payment being received. BIL claims this is sop for their larger more tenured clients. He is being charged with suspicion of theft for product of $5500 in value.

To me this doesnt really make sense.

Anyway I say all this to ask when will his mugshot be posted and where is the link to tarrant county specifically?

I am no rocket scientist but one of two very simple things would have to happen here to resolve this:

1) have said client confirm they received said product
2) have said client state they still owe payment

I mean that's all you can do, if that is indeed the sop. Unless there is much more to this story I wouldn't see why he would be arrested to begin with if thats all there was to it.

Hope he has proof that it's SOP. In my world, customer sends in PO, we manufacture (if not in stock), and ship. They are all on 30 or 60 day terms though. If he has no proof, he doesn't have much of a case.

I see what you are saying but if that is indeed how they handle business and the company is indeed ehtical then they should just tell them they haven't sent payment in.

I never heard of any business giving $5000 in goods without some sort of proof of transaction though.

Might also check with the state, this may effect inventory tax.

Chances are, the client won't want to, and will do their best to not get involved. It's also in the guy's best interest to not involve them.


OP never said there wasn't proof of a transactoin. But that would be easy for the company to cover up when the client wants to stay out of it.

Chances are, the client won't want to, and will do their best to not get involved. It's also in the guy's best interest to not involve them.

He says he has emails of other salespeople doing this exact practice for their top customers too. If thst is the truth then he should have a good case.

Does the company extend terms (net 10, 20, 30)? If so, how can it be theft?

Sounds like it may have become your bil's life work to exact revenge on said former employer by out selling them every chance he gets. Out in the real world jamming up a former employee will assuredly cost the former employer many times the 5500. I hope they think it was worth it. Who do you believe, the salesman who always took care of you or his company?
