Well we got Mr Harris here about 3 weeks ago & he will come in from outside & go piss on the damn carpet. We pop him on his butt & put him in his crate where he sits for a hour. Have also tried popping him on his butt & putting him a pin of fence I made for Buttkiss to keep Garland off my Back cause he always jumps the 4 foot fence. Anyways we have tried praising him by giving him a treat when we catch him peeing outside or pooping. Now he has learned not to poop in the house. But we can break him of pissing in the house. I hear Boston terriers are notourious for this problem.

The best trick I've used all my life and works like a champ is to get you some bells and tie them on a string and hang it low enough on the door knob that the puppy can ring them. Show him that everytime the bells ring the door opens. It doesn't take long for a dog to catch on. I've never had a dog take longer than 2 or 3 days to learn this concept. Hell our dog is 3 yrs old and he still rings the bells.

How long are you attempting to let him go without going outside? Small dog...small bladder. Take away access to water while he's locked up too (but not more than a few hours). He's probably trying but ya got a limit on that bladder before they just give up.2004 Z06 Commemorative Ed.

Don't put him in his kennel when he pisses in the house. He'll start to see the kennel as a time out. Your dog should feel comfortable in the kennel, and not have any negative thoughts about it.
Take the dog out more often. When he pisses in the house, tell him no, and take him back outside immediately. He will catch on eventually. In the meantime, you need to be spraying the spots he pisses in, with a neutralizer. Once pissing in the house becomes a habit, he will continue to do it, because he associates the smell of the carpet with pissing.Originally posted by BradMBut, just like condoms and women's rights, I don't believe in them.Originally posted by LeahIn other news: Brent's meat melts in your mouth.

Seb's high class.
He'll mow your grass.
He'll kick your ass.
And while his kidney stones pass,
He'll piss in a glass!

Immediately pick him up when you catch him peeing inside, walk straight to the grass outside and put him down. Saying no while doing this is as much as I'd say you can get away with. He'll catch on pretty quick that pee = outside. Be careful spanking him or being too stern with him when you catch him, he will associate pee with trouble, and do it out of sight so he doesn't get caught. We fostered a Boston for a year & he was sweet as pie, but dumb as a damn brick. He peer inside all the time. Luckily we have concrete so its easy to clean, but was a huge pita. We couldn't break him of it since he was older. I was happy to send him back.sigpic

Pugs are the same way, ours is 7 and if we don't keep an eye out on him he will try to mark a spot. Little dogs just can't hold it as long as a biger dog, don't hit him or put him in a kennel. Take him out more and when he's done give him a treat. We want a Boston or a Frenchie to go with our Pug.
Good luck there willfull little dogs.I've learned that pleasing everyone is impossible,
but pissing everyone off is a piece of cake

Don't put him in the crate put him right back outside. Crate is supposed to be his place not for punishment though.
I like the bell our female boxer will whine to us and stand by the door and wait. The male holds it and we never know when he has to go but he always goes outside vs in the house. But we also let them out very frequently too.Fuck you. We're going to Costco.

Well he is outside at the momment in his spot & been there for about 2 hours. We feed him in the morning & he does his business pretty fast most of the time. But today he just wont go. So we are just leaving him outside till he does & then show him is poop & give him a treat & bring him inside so maybe he will understand shit & piss outside. But he has the shitting part covered for the most part. He does that outside. Its the pissing & leaving little spots. And you cant tell cause he just stands there & goes & you have to be really looking at him to catch him.GOD BLESS TEXAS

To train a puppy right, especially with house training, requires a ton of work. The two primary tips I woudl give is:
1. When inside, if you are not specifically watching him or playing with him, keep him in his kennel. When you take him out of his kennel let him outside and watch him, being ready to praise when he goes.
Once you are done playing with him, take him back out to go, then straight to his kennel.
If you catch him peeing inside, don't beat him, just grab him as quickly as possible and take him outside. A firm "no" when you pick him up may stop him mid stream, which will give you time to get outside.
This is a real PITA but is the best way. You will need to continue this for the first few months. And it is very important to stick to it every time.
2. When you take him outside to go, take him on a leash, right to the spot you want him to go. Wait for the business and give praise.
