I thought servers tipped out to the bartenders regardless of how much they made. They could leave working for free or even paying money to work if they suck. Sounds like a good incentive for them to get a better job or don't suck so bad as a server. Fuck em.

That's how it worked when I waited tables. Servers tipped bar and bus (and expo on busy nights) based on server sales, not server tips. Bar and bus got paid regardless. If a server got stiffed, they were negative on the table because they paid the others, but the others still got $.

I tip nomore than 15% even if hot piece of ass is waitress. I went to bikinis and left a dollar tip on a $22 tab. I lolled all the way to the door. Also bad service = no tip and I pay in cash to make sure im not swindled.

I don't get those who say you should top a minimum of 15% even when the service is terrible. Fuck that, I will not reward poor service. And by poor service I'm not talking about when your server takes too long for reasons out of his/her control, or if the food isn't perfect, I'm talking about a shitty attitude and being a lazy ass.

I am a good tipper, but no one is goin to dictate the rules of tipping to me. It an earned thing and never a have to thing.

I'll tip what I think is fair. Generally based off friendliness, attentiveness, and food/drink service. I'll be damned if someone is going to tell me how to tip.

I dont understand how I am a cheap douchebag. I just dont tip. Its not in my nature. Mexico has the majority of restaurants tip free. I grew up with that mentality. If the waitress doesnt like her job she can quit. I tip better if she strips anyway

In undergrad from 1996 - 1998 I made $2.13 an hour - I believe that's still the wage. I got paychecks for single-digit dollars. Not gonna get into the dfwm tip argument, just offering data points.
